CLAIMS EXAMINER - SALVAGE/SUBROGATION ADMINISTRATOR
Austin Mutual is seeking to fill a Claims Examiner – Salvage/Subrogation Administrator position. The primary responsibility for this role is the administering of Salvage and Subrogation files. This position is part of the Claims Customer Service Phone Team and is also responsible for investigating, evaluating, and settling 1st and 3rd party Personal Auto and Commercial claims. Property experience is a plus.
In this role you will be required to:
- Track Salvage and Subrogation recoveries, including organizing and managing process for title changes on salvage vehicles.
- Handle subrogation files in addition to monitoring 3rd party subrogation vendors production.
- Negotiate disposition of claims with insured’s, claimants, or their legal representatives
- Work within a servicing center and provide phone support for property and casualty claims.
- Handle 1st and 3rd party casualty claims.
- When appropriate, take statements from Insured’s and interested parties.
- Establish reserves within Company established guidelines.
- Obtain and examine claim forms, medical reports, appraisals, statements from witnesses, and other records to determine insurance coverage.
- Provide prompt and exceptional customer service in accordance with the ACE guidelines.

- High school diploma or equivalent is required
- Minimum of two years’ adjusting experience with 1st and/or 3rd party property or casualty insurance claims
- Phone call center experience
- Experience in issuing claim payments
- Effective communication skills
- Possess strong analytical skills and be detail oriented
- Must have strong negotiation and customer service skills
- Must have effective business judgment and problem solving skills
- Ability to make independent claims decisions and work with a team
- Must have ability to work flexible hours
- Ability to proficiently operate a computer; efficient keyboarding skills; and have experience with software such as Word and Excel
- Must possess initiative and drive and be a self-starter
- Demonstrate professionalism
- Be Bondable
In addition, an ideal candidate will have:
- College degree in Insurance or a related field
- Imaging background, or experience in a paperless environment
