POINT/ALR SPECIALIST

We are seeking an individual to join our team as a POINT/ALR Specialist.   This position is responsible for creating and editing rate tables or rebuilding algorithms in the Point system to ensure accuracy of insurance premiums.  Some of the responsibilities of this position will be to:

 
• Develop rating elements using coding tools so that premium information is accurate
• Test each element and project as a whole using a model “live” environment to insure the product works correctly
• Collaborate with other departments to understand business needs to successfully complete assigned projects
• Follow up on implemented projects and make changes or enhancements as requested
• Develop clear and concise documentation that details all procedures and changes in logic, function or process
• Troubleshoot and solve issues as they arise, and work directly with technical team to identify short- and long-term solutions
• Maintain adherence to and compliance with business standards and best practices to ensure high performing, repeatable processes and deliverables
• May develop and run reports from AS/400 mainframe

 

 

Qualified candidates will possess the following:

 
• Associates or higher degree in business, computer science, or mathematics, or equivalent experience
• Strong organizational, creative thinking, time management, analytical, and problem solving skills
• Knowledge of property/casualty insurance
• Good oral and written communication skills, using the English language
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Must be detail oriented
• Strong Keyboarding Skills

Preferred Skills include:

 
• COBOL, AS/400, or POINT experience
• Understanding of files and records as they relate to programming
• Property/casualty policy rating experience
